ROSEVILLE – PRIDE Industries, today announced it has been selected as the Hewlett-Packard 2010 Service Supplier of the Year based on its overall performance and collaboration with HP. The award was presented Friday, May 27, 2010, at the HP Pan-Direct Supplier Summit in Palo Alto, California.

ROSEVILLE – PRIDE Industries was named the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) 2010 Agricultural Research Services (ARS) AbilityOne® Program Contractor of the Year at an Awards Ceremony held June 16, 2010 in Washington, D.C. PRIDE Industries was nominated by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and Pacific West Area (PWA) Procurement Office within the USDA.

 

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) conducts an annual small business and AbilityOne® award program to recognize exemplary service to the Department. PRIDE Industries provides janitorial and grounds maintenance services for the USDA, Agricultural Research Service Agency at their Davis, CA location, and is a proud partner in the AbilityOne® Program.  The AbilityOne Program is a federal initiative to help people who are blind or have other severe disabilities find employment by working for nonprofit agencies (NPAs) that sell products and/or services to the U.S. government.

ROSEVILLE – PRIDE Industries, a leading employer of people with disabilities, was recently awarded the 2010 Employer of the Year Award by United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), a leading service provider and advocate for children and adults with disabilities. The award recognizes a business or voluntary agency that has made an outstanding contribution to employing people with physical disabilities or has provided training programs leading to employment and created a better working environment for people with disabilities. The award was presented Friday, May 21, 2010, at the Awards for Excellence dinner and presentation during the UCP Annual Conference in Chicago, Ill.

ROSEVILLE – PRIDE Industries, a leading employer of people with disabilities, was recently named a recipient of the 2009 Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP), a program sponsored by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, the state’s leading authority on recycling and waste reduction.

 

PRIDE is among 250 California businesses and nonprofit organizations being recognized for their innovative, environmentally friendly programs and policies by being named recipients of the WRAP award.  Collectively, the organizations have diverted more than 2 million tons of materials from local landfills through aggressive resource management and recycling programs, and have saved millions of
dollars in operating costs.

 

PRIDE was selected based on a set of criteria that included waste prevention, materials reuse, recycling, recycled-product purchases, and employee education.  Since implementing its recycling program in October 2008, PRIDE Industries has diverted 84 percent (over 41,000 pounds) of its solid waste from landfills.

 

The WRAP awards were initiated in 1993 to recognize California businesses and private, nonprofit organizations that are making outstanding efforts to reduce non-hazardous waste. Including today’s winners, the Board has now awarded WRAP awards to nearly 18,000 California businesses and nonprofits.

ROSEVILLE – PRIDE Industries, one of the nation’s largest employers of people with disabilities, was recently named 2009 Business of the Year by the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) for its commitment to working with and employing people with disabilities at Ft. Bliss, Texas and throughout the Greater El Paso region. PRIDE was named Business of the Year for its innovative approach to job development and its dedication to collaboration with DARS in order to support individuals with disabilities in job placement, career development, and retention.

The Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) is composed of four divisions focused on people with disabilities and children with developmental delays. The department includes the Division for Rehabilitation Services (DRS), the Division for Blind Services (DBS), the Division for Disability Determination Services (DDS) and the Division for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI).

 

Since 2007, PRIDE has created jobs or provided employment services for more than 150 people with disabilities in Texas. In 2008, PRIDE employed 52 Division for Rehabilitative Services (DRS) consumers with disabilities through its contract at Fort Bliss. In 2009, 48 (DRS) consumers with disabilities found employment through PRIDE at Fort Bliss. Additionally, over 50 individuals with disabilities have found competitive employment in the local community with assistance from PRIDE’s Employment Services Division since 2007. The local Employment Services office is managed by Celeste Garcia, a longtime resident of the El Paso area who is actively engaged with the community and DARS.

 

PRIDE currently employs people with disabilities in local Texas communities. PRIDE creates opportunities for individuals to work in positions such as Carpenters, Electricians, Environmental Technicians, General Maintenance Workers, Heavy Equipment Operators, Plumbers, Service Order Dispatchers, Stock Clerks, Supply Technicians, and Truck Drivers.

ROSEVILLE – PRIDE Industries, a leading employer of people with disabilities, was recently awarded the NISH Performance Excellence in Developing Human Potential Award for its work promoting the upward mobility of people with severe disabilities. PRIDE accepted the award at the NISH National Training and Achievement Conference Awards Banquet May 14, 2009, in Atlanta, GA.

 

NISH is a national nonprofit agency whose mission is to create employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities by securing Federal contracts through the AbilityOne Program for its network of community-based, nonprofit agencies. The AbilityOne Program is a public/private partnership created by Congress, dedicated to providing employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other severe disabilities.

 

At the banquet, NISH recognized highly successful individuals, nonprofit agencies, government agencies, and businesses for their work to create jobs and opportunity for people with disabilities. PRIDE’s proven track record of successful employment and promotion of people with disabilities on AbilityOne contracts, within its organization and in local communities across the nation led to the nomination and acceptance of this award.

 

PRIDE’s unique person-centered approach to train, develop, support and promote people with disabilities results in jobs for persons formerly considered unfit for employment.
