Workforce Development Specialist

Position provides career counseling and guidance, client support and documentation, and employment preparation in provision of WIOA Adult/Dislocated Worker services.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Workforce Development Specialist is responsible for employment services provided by PRIDE Industries, which include providing career counseling and guidance, client support and documentation, and employment preparation in the provision of WIOA Adult/Dislocated Worker services. This job requires knowledge of case management, resources available to individuals with disabilities throughout the community, and the ability to determine and coordinate the necessary services and development plans for each client.

Typical Duties:

  • Identify eligibility of job seekers into WIOA Adult and Dislocated worker services and maintain and track client enrollments in CalJOBS.

  • Provide ongoing, comprehensive case management, enter activities, monitor service dates, and extend or close activities as required.

  • Monitor progress and quality of the work completed by participants and document findings through CalJOBS case management on a monthly basis.

  • Maintain and track client records and status regarding the number of clients served.

  • Staff regularly with Supervisor and referral agency staff.

  • Refer eligible clients to appropriate community resources as needed (i.e. legal services, community events and support group).

  • Develops, delivers, and evaluates a variety of employment readiness trainings for clients.

  • Conduct group presentations regarding job readiness and other employment related topics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience in case management, social services, or a related field.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications a plus.
  • Previously demonstrated experience working in the field of employment services, working with persons with significant barriers or working with persons from diverse backgrounds preferred.
  • Clear understanding and judgment with regard to protecting strictly confidential information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors, and/or customers.
  • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
  • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation.
  • Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems.
  • Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving, and analytical skills.
