Forklift Driver

Assists production by moving materials to designated areas

Forklift Drivers assist with production by performing various warehouse duties that include moving materials to designated areas using onsite vehicles and forklifts.


Under general supervision, the Forklift Driver performs various warehouse duties that require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. This job requires knowledge of warehouse processes and procedures, and the ability to operate hand trucks, forklifts, conveyors, and other equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading freight from storage containers, trucks, and other vehicles

  • Inspecting materials and products for proper and secure packaging to maintain integrity and condition

  • Restacking products or removing excess packaging material as needed

  • Maintaining records of shipped and received goods (manifests, bills of lading) using various computer software and applications

  • Routing materials to prescribed storage locations

  • Storing, stacking, and palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods

  • Rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials

  • Examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage

  • Removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment

  • Removing trash and cardboard from facility, and disposing of them according to procedures; ensuring a safe and organized environment

  • Interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers to facilitate the shipping and receiving of goods

  • Performing other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of related experience preferred

  • Experience in and working knowledge of the operation of a hand truck forklift, pallet jack, and other material-handling equipment

  • Ability to work safely and follow all safety policies involved with proper use of equipment and tools

  • Working knowledge of systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, and other established guidelines

  • Mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and common-sense skills

  • Communication and customer service skills to act responsively and provide procedural and factual information; respond to questions from customers, employees, and others; and escalate matters appropriately

  • An understanding of the organization being serviced

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities
