Dern joined PRIDE Industries in 2008 and brings more than 22 years of domestic and international business leadership experience.
Dern was appointed President in 2018 by former CEO Michael Ziegler. Dern and Ziegler worked closely together as part of a succession plan in coordination with PRIDE’s Board of Directors.
Dern has spent the past 12 years contributing to PRIDE’s mission of creating jobs for people with disabilities. He has held a variety of roles including Chief Financial Officer from 2016 – 2018, VP of Finance from 2014 – 2016, and Controller from 2008 – 2014. As President, he oversaw the company’s growth into new markets, navigated PRIDE’s service offerings while keeping employee safety a top priority during the COVID-19 pandemic, and continued to expand the company’s mission across the nation.
Active in the community, Dern currently serves on the California Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Comstock’s Editorial Advisory Board, and the Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council Board of Directors. He previously served as Board Chair at the Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center and on the Board of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce.
Dern holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Drexel University, Sacramento and is a certified public accountant (inactive status). He is also a California State University, Sacramento graduate with a B.S. in Business Administration.
