Life at PRIDE

All the great things I had heard before joining PRIDE turned out to be true. The people are fun, and the culture is fantastic. Every employee is valued and has the opportunity to make a difference. Your contributions are noticed and appreciated. My family has even noticed how much happier I am since I started working here. Hands down, it is the best place I have ever worked.

Our CEO comes by our office every week and smiles and tells us how great we are. He means it. He even tells us to play while our boss is away. Although the business is crucial, he understands that we’re just people, with a whole range of interests and needs. He’s the first one to be silly. You think, “If the big guy can do this, I can too.”

One of the greatest things PRIDE does is create a sense of "pride" in each and everyone. The company fosters a fun-filled, creative atmoshphere for each of us to be the "best"! I have made many new friends at PRIDE and enjoy going to work every day!

Before I was an employee, I was a customer of PRIDE's. When I came to PRIDE for a meeting the receptionist had posted my name on a welcome board and made me feel like I was some foreign dignitary visiting the White House. She could already associate my voice with my name and now she was treating me with extreme warmth and care.

It's great to work for a company with so much diversity. The environment here at PRIDE is so real, and yet so comfortable. Everyone has genuine regard for one another.

I have the flexibility to be able to make management decisions and carry them out. I also have a great support team on my side.

I love the environment. I get to come to work in comfy clothes and make a difference in people's lives!

It's the commitment I feel towards my co-workers, not just the money and benefits. We're one big family. I have a disability. People here are good, kind, and friendly. After having bad experiences in other places, I was real down when I got here. But everyone helped me boost my self-esteem, and I feel so great now. I even recently got my own apartment!

The leadership encourages individual, entrepreneurial thinking. I wanted to create a facility in South Sacramento to reduce the commuting distance for some of our employees with disabilities--four hours plus for some!. The executive team supported my idea and we opened our South Sacramento facility in October of 2000.

You have to have a great leader! My supervisor is a leader and he takes care of us. He knows what I need and dedicates his time to us.

My supervisor is nice and he keeps me going. He keeps me focused on my work. The faster I work the more money I make. I'm going to keep working hard because I want to go to Disneyland!

I appreciate the organization's commitment to training for employees at all levels. PRIDE offers a variety of classes (both in the classroom and on the web), a media library, and other educational resources. Training is also addressed in performance reviews to help with goal setting. Furthermore, the educational reimbursement program provided opportunities for me to take classes related to my job, helping to improve my day-to-day performance.

PRIDE Industries is the best place to go to work, because they'll help you find different jobs and offer you the training you need to be successful!

I've worked my way up from an entry-level position to manager. I've always had a good work ethic and upper management has acknowledged that by offering me more responsibility. PRIDE has always provided the chance to advance my career. They give me the opportunity and I give 100% back. I don't have any plans of going elswhere!

Personally, I've come a long way since my employment with PRIDE began. For instance, I used to really fear public speaking. But my supervisors worked with me and I was given some training for this. Now, while I still don't like it, I'm able to do it. I feel like now I have opportunities that I didn't have before.

A big reason I chose PRIDE was management's support of work-life balance. The job is extremely challenging, but it still allows me to live a balanced lifestyle. My wife notices it more than I do, but I definitely like coming to work more now.

Ever since I came to work at PRIDE my family and friends have noticed a change in me. My personality and demeanor are different; I am more positive and outgoing. PRIDE has brought out the best in me. PRIDE allows my inner self to shine and I have grown as a person, not just an employee. I now have the strength to express my creativity in other ways and am capable of doing other things.

At a job fair, I learned about PRIDE Industries and the social mission of the company. I was immediately intrigued. I found it wonderfully amazing that a company was devoted to hiring people with disabilities, which most employers’ overlook. Having a disability myself (a severe spinal injury), I was finding it difficult to land a job. So I'm extremely grateful for PRIDE and its mission.

The first day I set foot on PRIDE's production floor and saw what the folks were doing--and the happy looks on the faces--I knew this was the place I wanted to work. Why do I stay at PRIDE? Because I love the way it makes me feel to work here.
