PRIDE Industries Receives Grant from Wells Fargo to Support Skilled Labor Training for People with Disabilities
PRIDE Industries (PRIDE) is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities. PRIDE was recently awarded a $25,000 grant from Wells Fargo to support vocational training for 10 individuals in the Sacramento region.
In response to the high unemployment rates for people with disabilities and the shortage of skilled construction labor in the Sacramento area, PRIDE Industries recently launched PRIDE Ascend, the premier provider of market-driven vocational training for individuals with barriers to employment.
“Wells Fargo is a long-time supporter of PRIDE’s mission to create jobs for people with disabilities. This grant allows us to help meet the construction labor shortage in the Sacramento region while providing jobs for those who need them the most,” said Michael Ziegler, CEO of PRIDE Industries.
Wells Fargo is investing $2.3 million in 73 organizations and programs that support workforce development and job creation in California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Forty-one of the funded nonprofits are from urban communities and 32 are from rural markets. All grantees are from communities designated as having the highest levels of unemployment, as measured by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Award recipients were selected based on their support for small and micro-business development, workforce development and job creation.
With operations in 14 states and the nation’s capital, PRIDE employs more than 5,600 people, including 3,400 individuals with disabilities. Services provided through PRIDE have significant, long-term impact on those served. Increased employability contributes to each individual’s ability to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on social services.
