“The PRIDE Industries Scholarship has been especially important for me because it encouraged me to stay focused on my goal to complete my higher education. I would never guess that I qualified for a scholarship. It improved my self-esteem and confidence as a business major and has given me the extra financial boost to support my daily living and school expenses.  Thank you for your support, I look forward to applying my educational experience to future employment opportunities."

Scholarships

At PRIDE, we understand that higher education opens doors of opportunity for people with disabilities.  According to the U.S. Department of Labor, only 22 percent of working age Americans with disabilities is employed, while nearly 70 percent of Americans without disabilities in the same age group are employed.

Studies find that students with disabilities are less than half as likely as their peers to attend college in the two years after high school. This lack of higher education creates additional employment obstacles for a demographic that is both under-represented and underutilized in the workforce today.  We can change this.

PRIDE is proud to offer higher education scholarships to students with disabilities in many of the markets we serve.  The scholarships are open to students with disabilities who meet certain academic criteria and have employment aspirations that are supported by higher learning.

PRIDE currently offers scholarships in the following markets:

Texas

Since October 1, 2007, PRIDE Industries has been providing base wide facilities services at Fort Bliss. PRIDE has more than 250 employees on this Directorate of Public Works contract who have become the maintenance and repair "eyes" for Fort Bliss, proudly supporting this installation spanning two states – New Mexico and Texas.

PRIDE offers an annual scholarship at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) which began in the fall of 2010 and continues for a minimum of four years.  The first year recipient of the PRIDE Industries Scholarship for students with disabilities at UTEP graduated successfully and found employment on PRIDE’s facilities support services contract at Fort Bliss.
